Our Abba,  our friend, Chaim Shmuel ben Yeshayahu Kaminetzky who was well known as a true “giver”. Whenever he sensed that someone else needed, or even wanted, something he did whatever he could to make it happen. It didn’t matter to Abba whether the one in need was a close family member, a good friend or a total stranger—he tried to help anyone and everyone in the fastest, most complete—and often grandest—way possible. Everyone who knew him well was careful what they said around him, because if he heard you mention that you wanted something it would likely end up on your doorstep the next day—that was his way.

His sudden Petirah on the fifth night of Chanukah 5773 left a void in our family and in Klal Yisroel, a gap that has been difficult to fill. In an effort to emulate Abba’s actions in a small way, and bring a Zechus to his Neshama, we are establishing a toy drive that will benefit those needy families in our communities for whom buying Chanukah presents is truly difficult. Bringing a smile to the face of a young child, and a sense of relief to his parents, on the Yom Tov of Abba’s Petirah is a most appropriate way to commemorate his life, and we hope you will join us in this worthy campaign.

We have begun our Toy drive campaign in helping families with children who are sick, and helping families who need financial help with toys, and winter coats. All Toys will be given out on or just before Chanuka, and the coats throughout winter.
